The Nurse Educator is a Registered Nurse who is accountable at an advanced practice end for the design, implementation and assessment of nursing education programs, managing educational resources and provides nursing expertise relating to educational issues within RBWH Mental Health and QUT School of Nursing. Responsible for the provision of nursing leadership and delegated activities. Responsible for the provision of nursing care that meets the ANMC Competency Standards and other professional practice standards relevant to the position. Assumes individual accountability for actions within the position.

Qualifications/Professional registration/Other requirements

  1. Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and/or registration or membership as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, including any necessary endorsements, to be provided to the employing service prior to the commencement of duty.

  2. The incumbent will be required to work across a 5 day/week roster and may be required to work across a variety of settings within the Mental Health Service.

  4. Completion of a relevant post graduate qualification in area of speciality is required.

  5. To work between RBWH (0.8) and QUT (0.2)

The Anaesthetist will be responsible for the provision of quality cost efficient Anaesthesia, preadmission review and acute pain services care and clinical consultative services within the Toowoomba Health Service. There are six operating theatres, 1750 deliveries per annum, high dependency and intensive care. The Department of Anaesthesia’s current medical establishment is 11 specialists, including the Director Visiting Medical Specialist, 7 Registrars / PHOs and 2 Residents. The Department is accredited for training of registrars with the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists.

  1. Registration with or eligibility for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist in Anaesthesia with Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists or equivalent.

  2. In order to be considered for appointment to Senior Staff Specialist (L25 – L27) level, you will be required to provide evidence of sustained meritorious achievement in areas of clinical excellence, major teaching initiatives and responsibilities, and a significant level of contribution to fostering and promoting high standards in the provision of public health services.
